for Bb Trumpet and Piano Accompaniment
Solo with Piano
This work, originally scored for solo trumpet with concert band accompaniment, is dedicated to my friend Tim Nemzin. It was the result of a conversation we had at the 2016 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. While writing the piece, I occasionally sent Tim copies of my drafts. He would record himself playing, we would discuss the results, and then make changes as we saw fit. The result was a premiere performance with Tim and the Joe E. Newsome High School Wind Ensemble under my baton. In this setting for solo trumpet and piano accompaniment, I hope it serves trumpeters well as they develop their musicianship, and that it may be performed at solo festivals and recitals alike in the company of friends.
