Description

A festive medley of classic holiday favorites set with fresh harmonic language and lush scoring. An optional audience sing-along offers the opportunity to make this a special addition to your holiday program and a perennial favorite.

Program Notes

There is nothing more fun around the holidays than singing Christmas carols in a large group. What better way to spruce up your holiday concert than to have your audience participate in the concert with a good old-fashioned sing-along? This arrangement contains eight popular carols: “O Christmas Tree,” “Jingle Bells,” “Deck the Halls,” “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Silent Night,” “Up on the Housetop,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

The setting can be performed with String Orchestra alone, but it would be so much more fun and festive to have your audience participate. A handy lyric sheet is included in the score, with permission to photocopy for use by your audience. To be more environmentally friendly, there is also an online version that the audience can use on their cell phones. When performing this arrangement with the audience singing along, I recommend that you turn around and give a cue to the audience members where the melody for each carol begins. This is indicated in the score where the title for each carol is written above the Violin I part.
