Program Notes

Student musicians have so much potential, more than teachers sometimes admit. They can and should be asked to create musical moments. “Endless Possibilities” is a lush and lyrical piece I have written to provide these musicians the opportunity to explore all of the musical possibilities inherent in an emotionally charged piece like this one.

The performers will need to explore shaping the phrases of rising emotive melodies, leaning into at times intense harmonies, and putting all of the musicianship they can muster into making this piece move them and the audiences that hear it.

I strongly believe young musicians can and should be asked to make this kind of emotional commitment to their performances. I feel that if they achieve this goal, it will lead to endless musical possibilities in their futures!
