John Philip Sousa, often referred to as the “March King,” composed many iconic marches that have become staples of American band literature. “Homeward Bound March” is one of these classic pieces, embodying the spirited and patriotic essence that Sousa’s works are celebrated for. This particular arrangement has been adapted to a Grade 2 level, making it an excellent choice for young or developing musicians.

I truly believe that most of the fundamentals we teach in music can be strengthened through playing marches, and bringing some of the harder marches to a younger musician is a joy as a former classroom educator. I hope you find this charming march, with a unique dynamic twist towards the end, an enjoyable and educational experience.
