Description

Composer Christopher Artau burst onto the Jazz scene a couple of years ago, and he continues to create memorable and exciting music. “Off the Set” is a dynamic Latin Funk chart that features the unique color of Alto Sax and Guitar on the main melody. Punchy brass and soaring Sax lines add to the mix, along with a fun Piano part.

Program Notes

Showcasing Drum Set from the jump, this exciting funk chart lets the rhythm section groove and makes use of tight Latin-esque lines in the horns. Alto Sax 1, Guitar, and Drum Set are featured throughout with plenty of “as written” and ad lib solo space. Additionally, I encourage your rhythm section to make the written parts their own – communication, improvisation, and interplay is more than welcome.
