Blues with a Twist

Description

There are many Jazz pieces based on the 12 bar Blues, but composer David Samuel wanted to twist things up a bit! Keeping the traditonal 12 measure form, there are 3 different rhythmic and melodic ideas happening together over the rhythm section. You’ll hear that this arrangement is quite dissonant and highly syncopated!

There are many, many Jazz pieces based on the 12 bar blues but I wanted to try and put a fresh spin on the form. As you will hear in the arrangement, it is quite dissonant and highly syncopated. While I did keep the traditional 12 measure form, there are passages where there are three different rhythmic and melodic ideas happening together over the rhythm section so it does get a bit “twisted up” at times.
