A tribute to the great big bands of the 1930’s and 40’s with a contemporary flair This piece emulates that classic sound we love and includes all the colors of a modern Jazz composition.

Program Notes

“Swing is in the Air” is a tribute not only to the great big bands of the 1930s and 1940s, but is also greatly influenced by bands I was able to hear perform live like Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson and Stan Kenton. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to hear the Count Basie band in person…I have often thought that I might have been born 20 years too late!
