Description
A brilliantly scored work alternating between duple and triple meter – “Cliffs of Moher” is straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster film! Cinematic hits and rhythmic verve are the hallmark of Sean’s writing, and this one is no exception. A fun feat for any concert program.
Program Notes
“Cliffs of Moher” is a composition that I have been working on in my head ever since I visited there in 2005. It is a stunning coastline on the west coast of Ireland that is seen by thousands of visitors each year. My first impression was jaw-dropping in its beauty and inspiring views.
Being in Ireland, this natural landmark lends itself to Irish-inspired music. This work embodies this tradition and much more. The bold opening material captures that first impression you get when your eyes gaze on the cliffs.
Of course, the people who work the land are the real heroes. The fast music tips its cap to all of those people and more. Lots of fun rhythms and interactions along the way.
