Description
Sean O’Loughlin’s technical writing is on full display in this challenging three-movement work for advanced Violin, Cello and Piano trio. Perfect for recitals or performance settings, this new work is a wonderful new addition to upper level repertoire.
This work for a traditional piano trio was inspired by my collaboration with the Finger Lakes Trio in a performance of the Beethoven Triple Concerto. Hearing the different shades, colors, rhythms and textures that a piano trio can do was a launch pad for this composition. Composed in three contrasting movements, the music is a musical representation of the artist technique of Pointillism. Artists like Georges Seurat and Paul Signac were equally inspiring as composers like Ravel, Debussy and Sondheim. Sonya Stith WIlliams on violin, Heidi Hoffman on cello and Rob Auler on piano were the artists who brought the music to life in the premiere and continue to champion this work.
