This is a Swing ballad written in 12/8. Inspired by the lush harmonies of music from the 70’s, this chart will bring back fond memories of the past for any listener.
Program Notes
“Silhouette in Time” is a swing ballad in a 12/8 feel that features a solo Alto Saxophone. The title comes from my desire to write a piece that is reminiscent of a memory in the past. I think of all music that I write as a moment in time. It reflects how I was feeling at the time. I am a big fan of the music of the 1970’s with its lush harmonies, and so I tried to incorporate this into the fabric of this music.
It has been my pleasure to have the opportunity to write this piece. I hope you and your students enjoy it and find it useful for your program.
