Ruth Brittin

Ruth Brittin's experience in music education settings brings a broad perspective to composing. She is an active instrumental clinician, adjudicator, and performer on French horn; known internationally for her pedagogical research, she brings these perspectives to developing musicians. Ruth has taught future music educators for three decades, and she draws on the band, string, and traditional music genres as inspiration. She holds degrees from Texas Tech University and her Ph.D. in music education from Florida State University. As a professor of music education at the University of the Pacific (and previously Syracuse University), Ruth enjoys incorporating music and ideas from around the world. Her husband Brian Kendrick is one of California's most esteemed jazz and percussion musicians, daughter Carolyn is singing, songwriting, and fiddling across the USA, and son Casey is deep into violin and jazz.
