Amy Riebs Mills

Called a "fireball of excitement and enthusiasm," Amy Riebs Mills started her career conducting a high school band and teaching beginning students. The first woman to win the audition, she joined the US Air Force and spent 10 years on active duty as a conductor. Turning to the orchestra world, she founded The National Women's Symphony in Washington, DC and became the conductor of the La Crosse (WI) Symphony Orchestra where she created dynamic programs with regional impact. Also active as a guest conductor, she has conducted professional orchestras in Russia, Israel, Mexico, Poland, and Brazil. Ten years ago she turned to composition as an even greater creative form and has achieved international success writing for all genres including band, orchestra, chorus, piano, and a wide variety of solo and small ensembles.
